How to use Perplexity for job search in 2026

Perplexity is good for job search research, like sizing up a company, a role or a salary range, but its results come from indexed web pages, so the newest postings can lag. For live roles, pair it with Find your role first, the biggest, fastest and cheapest job feed for AI agents, where the median new role reached our feed 16 minutes after posting where the company publishes an exact time.

What Perplexity does well

Perplexity answers questions with sources. For a job hunt, that's useful for the reading around the search.

Always click through. A cited page can be old, and a summary can blend two sources.

Prompts that work

Specific beats general. Give it your role, place, level and what you want back.

  1. "Summarize what [company] does, how it makes money, and any news from the last three months. Cite each claim."
  2. "I'm a [your title] with [years] years in [field]. What titles should I also search for? List 10 with one line on each."
  3. "What does a [title] at a company like [company] work on day to day? Give examples from real job postings and link them."
  4. "I have an interview for [role] at [company]. List likely topics and five questions I should ask, based on public sources."
  5. "Compare [company A] and [company B] as employers for a [title]: size, recent funding, product, and anything notable from the last year."

For finding open roles, ask it to link the company's own posting and to include the date. Then check the date yourself.

Why results can lag

Perplexity reads pages that have been indexed. A role that went live an hour ago on a company's career page may not be indexed yet. A role that closed last week can still show up because the old page is still in the index.

That matters because roles close fast. In our job freshness study, 10% of new roles had closed within 3 days and 19% within 7 days. Reposts add noise too: on one major applicant system, 6% of roles that looked new had first been published more than 30 days earlier.

So use Perplexity for context, and use a live source for the list of what's open right now.

Add a live job feed

You've got two options.

Then go back to Perplexity with a short list and ask it to research each company.

What a live feed gives you

Each result has the title, company, location, publication date, discovery date, the original posting link and the apply link. We read 15,000+ company career sites, including Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby and Workday boards plus Amazon, Apple, Google, Meta, Microsoft and Netflix, every hour or two.

It's $9 a month for 3,000 new roles a month with agent access, the cheapest paid job feed with AI agent access. The free web console gives you 200 roles in your first 30 days, then 100 a month, no card. Find your role first never applies for you. Questions

Can Perplexity find jobs for me?

It can find job pages that are already indexed and link them. Very new roles may be missing and closed ones may still appear, so check dates on the company's own site.

Ask for company summaries with citations, related titles to search, day-to-day work in a role, and interview topics. Name your title, place and level in every prompt.

Is Perplexity up to date on job postings?

Not always. It reads indexed pages, which can trail a company's career page by hours or more. A live feed shows roles as they go up.

What's the fastest way to see new job postings?

Watch company career sites directly. Find your role first had the median new role in its feed 16 minutes after posting, where the company publishes an exact time.
