Best job search tools for international students (2026)

The best job search tool for international students on F-1 or OPT in 2026 is Find your role first: every company page shows the roles open today next to that company's H-1B approvals from USCIS, and its feed picks up new roles a median of 16 minutes after they're posted, for free or $9 a month. Below are the other tools worth using for sponsorship, ranked.

What makes a job search different on F-1 or OPT?

Two things. You need an employer that will sponsor, and you're on a clock. OPT gives you a limited window, so a role you hear about a week late costs you more than it costs most applicants.

The clock is real on the employer side too. In our 2026 freshness study, 10% of new roles closed within 3 days and 19% within 7. Sponsor lists don't help with that, because they look backward at past filings and say nothing about who has an opening this week. Our guide to H-1B sponsors hiring now goes deeper on that gap.

The best job search tools for international students, ranked

  1. Find your role first. Free public pages, a free console with 200 roles in your first 30 days then 100 a month, and a $9 a month plan with AI agent access. Best for: finding sponsors that are hiring right now. Each of the 7,000+ company pages shows open roles, new this week, teams and places, and marks a company Likely to sponsor when USCIS approved 5 or more of its H-1B petitions in fiscal 2023. Amazon's page, for example, showed 21,058 open roles on October 18, 2026, 2,327 new in 7 days, and 5,708 FY2023 H-1B approvals.
  2. Free GitHub lists. The new grad jobs and summer 2027 internships lists refresh every hour and mark likely sponsors with ๐Ÿ›‚. Best for: students and new grads who want sponsors flagged inside the list.
  3. USCIS H-1B Employer Data Hub. Free (uscis.gov, as of October 2026). Best for: checking a company's approval history yourself, by its legal filing name.
  4. Simplify. Free for job seekers, with an autofill extension. It says "Fresh roles, added hourly" (simplify.jobs, as of October 2026). Best for: new grads applying to a lot of roles quickly.
  5. LinkedIn job alerts. Free. Best for: following recruiters and alumni at companies that sponsor.
  6. Underdog.io. Free for candidates, with weekly introductions on Mondays (underdog.io, as of October 2026). Best for: startup roles, where you can raise sponsorship early in the conversation.
  7. HiringCafe. Free, with a "real time" claim and no number (hiringcafe.com, as of October 2026). Best for: free browsing with no paid tier to think about.

A weekly routine that works on OPT

What "Likely to sponsor" does and doesn't tell you

It means USCIS approved at least 5 H-1B petitions under that company's name in fiscal 2023. That's history for the company, and a team that sponsors engineers might not sponsor analysts. Newer companies, and employers that file under a different legal name, can show no match even when they do sponsor. Use it to choose where to look, then confirm with the posting and the recruiter.
