What time of day are most jobs posted? (2026 data)

What time of day are most jobs posted? In our October 2026 data, 69% of US roles went up between 9am and 5pm Eastern, the busiest hour was 1pm ET, and 98% were posted Monday to Friday. Tuesday and Thursday were the busiest weekdays, and Monday was the quietest.

That comes from the US roles among 340,740 new roles we first saw October 4 to 17, 2026, as part of our job freshness study.

Jobs get posted when recruiters are at work. The 1pm ET peak lines up with the middle of the working day on both coasts, late morning in California and early afternoon in New York.

The other 31% went up before 9am or after 5pm ET. Part of that's likely West Coast teams posting late in their own afternoon.

What day of the week are most jobs posted?

Weekdays, by a wide margin. Across all sectors we saw about 27,000 to 45,000 new roles each weekday, and 2,000 to 4,000 on weekend days.

Within the week, Tuesday and Thursday were the busiest. Monday was the quietest weekday, which makes sense if teams spend Monday catching up and post once the week is moving.

What's the best time to look for new jobs?

Look in the afternoon, Eastern time, on weekdays. By around 2pm ET the 1pm peak has landed. A second look near the end of the West Coast day catches the late posts.

Weekends are quiet for new roles. They're a fine time to write applications for roles you saved during the week.

The bigger edge is how quickly you see a role at all. A job board that shows it hours later erases the head start. In our study, where the company publishes an exact posting time, the median role was in our feed 16 minutes after it was posted. 79% arrived within 1 hour and 95% within 3 hours.

Does applying early help?

Postings close sooner than most people expect. Of the roles we first saw October 5 to 9, 10% closed within 3 days and 19% within 7 days. The details are in how long job postings stay open.

If a role is a good match, applying the day it goes up puts you in the first batch a recruiter reads. Our guide to seeing new job postings within hours has more on that.
