LinkedIn past 24 hours trick (f_TPR) and what it misses

The LinkedIn trick is a number in the search address. Search for a job, set Date posted to Past 24 hours, and the URL gets f_TPR=r86400. That's 86,400 seconds, one day. Change it to r3600 for the last hour, or any number of seconds you like. Add sortBy=DD to sort newest first. It works, and it still misses a lot of roles, because LinkedIn only shows what reached LinkedIn.

How to do it

  1. Search your role on LinkedIn Jobs.
  2. Open All filters and set Date posted to Past 24 hours.
  3. In the address bar, find f_TPR=r86400 and change the number.
  4. Add &sortBy=DD at the end if it isn't there.

Useful values:

ValueWindow
r3600last hour
r7200last 2 hours
r21600last 6 hours
r86400last 24 hours
r604800last 7 days

Bookmark the result. Opening the bookmark runs the same search again.

LinkedIn doesn't document any of this. People found it by reading the URL, so it could change or stop working without notice.

What it misses

Reposts look new. A role that gets reposted shows up again in the last-hour window. You can spend a whole morning applying to roles that have been open for a month (ask anyone who has).

Roles arrive late. Every role starts on the company's own careers site, usually Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby or Workday. LinkedIn picks it up afterwards, sometimes hours later, sometimes days. "Posted 1 hour ago" means an hour on LinkedIn, not an hour on the company's site.

Some roles never arrive. Not every company sends every role to LinkedIn, and the trick can only filter what's there.

The upstream version

The same trick, one step earlier, is watching the careers sites themselves. Find your role first reads more than 15,000 of them every hour or two and records the hour each role first appeared there. New jobs in the last 24 hours shows the counts by role with no sign-in, and a signed-in search sorts every role newest first, free for 200 roles in your first 30 days.

Use both if you like. LinkedIn is good for its Easy Apply roles and its recruiters. The company site is where you're first.

Questions

Does LinkedIn's "Past 24 hours" use the original post date?

It uses when the listing went up on LinkedIn, including reposts. It doesn't know when the company first published it on its own site.

Can I get the last 30 minutes?

Yes, r1800. Expect few results outside big cities and common titles.

Does this work in the LinkedIn app?

The app has no address bar to edit. Use the trick in a browser and bookmark it.
